Details

Energy is the ability to do work and is measured in Joules. Energy can be converted from one form to other forms but it cannot be created or destroyed. It is best if we can convert energy efficiently. If an electrical generator converts 100J of Kinetic Energy to 30J of Electrical Energy, it has an efficiency of 30%. The other 70 Joules are not destroyed but may be converted to Sound or Heat Energy. The important forms of energy in renewable energy systems include Kinetic, Potential, Radiant, Electrical and Heat Energy.
